      Funeral services for John Steffek, 81-year-old retired farmer of the Ammannsville section, were held Saturday morning from Hubbard Funeral Home here and the Catholic Church at Ammannsville, with interment in Ammannsville Catholic Cemetery.
       
      Rev. Adolph Janda officiated, assisted by Msgr. Anthony F. Drozd.
       
      Mr. Steffek died last Thursday in Renger Hospital, Hallettsville, where he had been a patient for 15 days.  He had been ill for several months.
       
      Born January 6, 1871, at Hostyn, he was the son of John and Rose (Peter) Steffek.  He married Miss Johanna Holub at Dubina November 24, 1891.  A lifelong resident of Fayette County, he was a member of St. John Catholic Church, Ammannsville.
       
      Surviving in addition to his widow are six daughters, Mrs. Edith Osina of Holman, Mrs. Mathilda (Adacik) Macha of Midfield, Mrs. Otillie Barta of Needville, Mrs. Vlasta Marek of La Grange, Mrs. Elsie Kubesch of Weimar and Miss Lillie Steffek of Ammannsville; two sons, Edward T. Steffek of El Campo and Fred J. Steffeck of Ammannsville; two sisters, Mrs. Agnes Ripple of La Grange and Mrs. Frances Holub of Weimar; three half-sisters and a half-brother who live in Needville, and a half-brother who lives in Blessing; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.  One sister, Mrs. Cecilia Barta of Weimar, preceded him in death.
       
      Mr. Steffek lost three grandsons in World War II:  Allen Adamcik, Vit Barta and Laddie Osina.
       
      Pallbearers at the funeral were Oscar Marek, Alvin Adamcik, Ernest Kubesch, Eugene Kossa, Bill Barta and Albert Koberaky.
