Shiner Veteran Meets Tragic Death
Seldom did Shiner so sad a death see as was that of Alphonse Dolezal Tuesday. Tragic was the sight especially of his young wife of 14 months, crushed with grief. For it was a cruel blow which fell so suddenly for his beloved.
What the Shiner veteran escaped on the battlefield he met on the home field. While plowing Monday with a tractor he was also shooting doves. His father nearby heard a shot, then saw the tractor moving on and his son was on the ground. He found him mortally wounded in the side. Somehow the gun was accidentally discharged.
All human help proved in vain and the young veteran died at Wagner Clinic conscious almost to his last breath.
So crushing was this sudden blow to his young wife that she had to be placed under a nurse's care. It was almost impossible to part her from the grave that received her beloved one.
There are also the grief stricken parents Mr. and Mrs. John Dolezal, one younger brother and two sisters. Rev Moczygemba and Hoffman officiated. Fellow veterans paid their last respects with Taps echoing memories of the war.
