OBIT: Jerome Spacek
Jerome Spacek, was Charter Member and Past Grand Knight at Council 7036, and a Former District Deputy in the Knights of Columbus. He passed away on Saturday, 8/29/2009, at age 80. Here is his obituary from the Fort Bend Herald:

Jerome “Jerry” Albert Spacek, 80, of Richmond, went to our Lord 4:15 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, at his home. Funeral services, with his fellow Knights of Columbus in their 4th Degree uniforms, will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 3 at Notre Dame Catholic Church, 7720 Boone Road in Houston, 281-498-4653. Graveside services will include U.S. Navy military honors.
Visitation is 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a 7 p.m. rosary, Wednesday, Sept. 2 at Forest Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer Road in Houston, 281-497-2330.
Daddy, Papa – you were our hero. You could do anything; you were there for all of us. You are loved and missed so very much.
Jerome was born Sept. 21, 1928, to Anton Sr. and Mary Zapalac Spacek of Bellville. He honorably served in the U.S. Navy from 1950 – 1954 in Korea.
He retired from Exxon – Mobil. Jerome was a 4th Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus Post 77 in Alief. He attended Notre Dame Church from 1969 to April 2007, until his move to Richmond.
He enjoyed playing dominoes at gatherings with family and friends, fishing, yard work and gardening. Jerome loved being a dad and grandpa.
Jerome was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Myers Spacek; his parents, brothers and sisters.
He leaves behind his last surviving sister, Sophie Metcalf of Houston; two daughters, Linda Vavrecka and husband, Robert, with their children and eight grandchildren, and Judy Spacek of Rosenberg, and her family and grandchildren; son, Richard “Rick” Spacek and wife, Beverly, and their children and grandchildren of Richmond and Katy; Ruth Looney; and lots of nieces, nephews and friends.
Pallbearers will be Ramiro Gomez, Jeremy “Bubba” Vavrecka, Carlos Gonzalez, Cory Brooks, Larry Spacek, Frank Spacek and James Spacek.
The Spacek family would like to thank and express their gratitude for all the love shown for our Angel – Dad – Papa –Jerome. The cards, concerns, prayers and food from the military and law enforcement agencies, relatives, friends, church members, co-workers have meant so much to the family and have made this tragedy easier to bear. God bless you all.
