      Cyril Joe Vitek, 80, passed away at Angleton-Danbury Hospital in Angleton, Texas, Friday, December 7, 2001.

      Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 10, 2001 at St. Michael's Catholic Church with Monsignor Leo Wleczyk officiating.

      A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday at the Lakewood Funeral Chapel.

      Family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral chapel. He will also lay instate from 10:00 a.m. on Monday at the church until service time.

      Cyril has been a member of the local community since 1950, was an Army veteran of WWII, KJT member, member of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree, retired after 30+ years with the fire dept. for Dow Chemical in 1982, and was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church.

      Cyril is survived by his wife of 54+ years, Dorothy Mary Vitek of Lake Jackson; by children, David C. Vitek and wife Betty of Houston, Gary F. Vitek of Lake Jackson, Danny J. Vitek and wife Patricia of Jones Creek, Kathy Scott and husband Craig of Lake Jackson, Mark G. Vitek and wife Julie of Boston, MA, Karen Stephens and husband Eric of Angleton, and Randy P. Vitek of Richwood; by grandchildren, Kristen Scott, Allison Vitek, Andrew Vitek, Ryan Stephens, Blake Stephens and Austin Stephens; sisters, Dorothy Klecka of Sugarland, and Agnes Cook and husband L.F. of Jackson, MS; brothers, Libert Vitek and wife Pat of Brazoria, Bennie Vitek and wife Laureen of Victoria, Frank Vitek and wife Madeline of Fayetteville, and Dominic Vitek of Midland. Pallbearers will be David C. Vitek, Gary F. Vitek, Danny J. Vitek, Mark G. Vitek, Randy P. Vitek and Craig Scott.

      The family would like to thank the staff at Village on the Creek Nursing Home in Clute, The Angleton-Danbury Hospital staff, The BMH emergency room staff, the Vitas Hospice Care Team and all family and friends and caregivers who visited him when he was ill.

      The family requests any charitable contributions in Cyril's name be made to St. Michael's Building Fund and/or hospice.
