Richard Lewis Kloppenburg, 83, passed away in San Antonio, on Saturday, March 31, 2007.
He was born in Sublime, Texas on November 5th, 1923 to Harper and Celie Meyer Kloppenburg. He was baptized and confirmed in the Zion Lutheran Church in Sublime and married his sweetheart Marie Netardus on March 30, 1948 in Hallettsville, Texas.
After celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary, his beloved Marie passed away on September 28, 1998.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps as a Corporal during WWII in the Pacific. Richard worked many years as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service and was a member of the Rural Letter Carriers Association, the VFW Post 7310, the American Legion #170 and was a long time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
He is survived by two daughters; Carol Berg, San Antonio, TX, and Patricia Tepe and husband Bill, six grandchildren; Andrew Berg and wife Janet, Audrey Tarter and husband Jason, Christopher Kneuper and wife Misty, Karen Sciantarelli and husband Brian, David Kneuper and fiancé Emily Hutchison, and Carl Tepe, and also seven great grand children.
Friends may visit the funeral home on Tuesday, April 3 from 1 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 4 at 10 a.m. at Saint Paul Lutheran Church in New Braunfels with the Revs. Dr. Charles DeHaven and Pastor Danny Koenig officiating. Interment will follow the service at the Saint?s Peter and Paul Mausoleum Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Saint Paul Lutheran Church.
