Sophie E. Machann, 90, of College Station, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2009, at College Station Medical Center.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.
Services are set for 10 a.m. Thursday, April 16, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Caldwell with the Rev. Dimitrij Colankin officiating.
Burial will be in the Caldwell Masonic Cemetery.
Mrs. Machann was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in College Station.
She enjoyed gardening, raising flowers, listening to music, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She was the fourth child of Frank and Sophie Maresh Matcek. Her paternal grandparents were Joseph and Frantiska (Sweda) Matcek.
Her maternal grandparents were Vince and Emilie (Muller) Maresh.
Mrs. Machann was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie W. Machann, whom she married in 1938.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Clinton and Ginny Machann, of College Station; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gable and Lynne Matcek, of Caldwell and Clinton and Bettye Matcek, of Bryan; sister, Frances Scarbrough, of Houston; granddaughters, Elizabeth Alena Horn and husband, Kersten, Theresie Sophie West and husband, Timothy, and Sarah Frantiska Machann; and great-grandson, Marc Jacob Horn.
