      Our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Willie (Billy) Patrick Svoboda passed away at his home in Jourdanton on Friday, November 7, 2008 surrounded by all of his loved ones following a lengthy illness. Willie was born in Floresville on January 17, 1935 to Fritz and Merle Burket Svoboda. Willie joined the Army at the age of 17 and served in the Korean War. He married Annie Catherine Bender in 1956 and went to work in San Antonio with Texas Neon Sign Company. In 1969 he and his family moved to Jourdanton, where he was employed with KT Lease as an oil field electrician. He later opened his own electrical business. Willie is survived by his wife of 52 years, Annie Catherine Svoboda; daughters Cathy Bludau of Temple, Karen Terrell and husband Donald of Converse, Katie Svoboda of Jourdanton and Connie Bluestone and husband Mark of Tilden. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, as well as his brothers and sister, Allen (Pete) Svoboda and wife Linda of Pleasanton, Michael J. Svoboda and wife Connie of Floresville and Ruby Nell Rosene of Floresville and numerous nieces and nephews. Willie is preceded in death by his parents, Fritz and Merle Svoboda. Visitation was held at Hurley Funeral Home, 118 West Oaklawn Road, Pleasanton, from 2-9 p.m. on Monday, November 10, 2008. A funeral service was held at Hurley Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 11, 2008. Interment will be at Jourdanton City Cemetery in Jourdanton. Serving as pallbearers for the service are his grandsons, Paul Amason, Patrick Terrell, John Terrell and Talon Terrell and friends, David Woodless and Brian Phipps.
