      they hid the Christmas pickle inside the tree and the child that finds it get's an extra surprise gift. Yes czech's have that same tradition.

        Some Germans will only put their tree up the night before (Santa left the tree) and would also leave a pickle ornament on the tree. Whichever child found the pickle, would get an "extra" gift... That is what has always been told in my family...
