it took less than 2 years to accomplish a goal to honor the czechs who
left texas and went to mishak, oklahoma for farm land. a sign in their
memory and 100th anniversary was installed this week at their cemetery
      and reads as follows:
      "1909-2009
In 1909, two acres of land here was donated by Martin and Mary Slovak
Genzer to establish St. Martin's Catholic Church and cemetery, so that
Czech immigrants, who settled near Mishak, Oklahoma, could worship
together and be buried in their Catholic cemetery. Worship services,
baptisms, confirmations, weddings and funerals were held here until
the church building was destroyed by fire in the early 1950's. This
sign is dedicated to all those who were connected via St. Martin's
Catholic Church and to all the relatives, descendants and friends of
      those buried here."
if you are ever in okc, ok, their cemetery is at the end of the runway
of tinker afb. the czech farmers all lost their land to tinker afb,
draper lake and general motors. only their cemetery is left.
