Fifth Annual MUZIKY, MUZIKY at TCHCC

To observe Czech Heritage Month, the Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center will provide the public with an opportunity to enjoy Czech-Texas musicians and dancers who will perform the songs and dances the way their Czech ancestors did in their former home land at the Sanford Schmid Amphitheater at the Texas Czech Heritage and Cultural Center, La Grange, Texas, from 7:30- 9:00 pm on October 11, 2008.

You are invited to sit a spell, enjoy a cool autumn evening and take part in the festivities.  The amphitheater concession stand will be selling refreshments and snacks.  There will also be a sack lunch (sandwich, chips and cookies) available for sale.

The performers will be the Beseda Dancers, the Junior Historians, and the Taylor Czech Chorus. The Beseda Dancers from theCaldwell area, under the direction of Susan Skrbanek, will be the youngest group performing an adapted form of the beseda--a traditional Czech folk dance.  The Junior Historians are high school students from West High School who also dance variations of the national Czech folk dances.  This dance group, currently under the direction of Janette Pavelka and Mary Ann Johnson, has been performing for many years and always delivers lively entertainment to please the audience.  Also performing will be the Taylor Czech Chorus who has just returned from an international ten-day tour with performances in the Czech Republic .  This group of 12-18 adults will sing traditional Czech songs.  In keeping with the Czech tradition, The Czech Heritage Society of Texas’ 2007 Miss Texas Czech Slovak Marianne Beran will delight all with her singing talent.

The TCHCC Gift Shop will be open from 12 noon to 6 p.m. before the performance for your Christmas shopping pleasure.  The gift shop is located in the TCHCC Kalich House/Visitors’ Center on the Fayette county fairgrounds.
