      EGNEC JOE "MIKE" GREGUREK

        GANADO - Egnec Joe "Mike" Gregurek, 87, of Ganado, died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008, in El Campo. He was born Dec. 4, 1920, in Bellville, to the late John and Mary Frances Spacek Gregurek.
       
      He was owner and manager of Cross Road Grocery, Economy Grocery, Mike's Foodcraft, and Stanley's Supermarket as manager in Ganado when he retired.
        He was a veteran of WWII in the US Army serving in England, France, and Germany. He received WWII Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and EAME Campaign Medal with two Bronze Stars. He was a member of Assumption Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and American Legion Post 346 in Ganado.

      He is survived by his sister, Clara Moore (Shutt) of Cameron; brothers, Gene (Betty) Gregurek of El Campo and Sonny (Theo) Gregurek of Auburn, Wash.; granddaughters, Nicole O'Neal of Bay City and Heather Lunsford of Sugar Land; great-granddaughter, Madison O'Neal of Bay City; friend, Donnie Sparks and family of Ganado; and son-in-law, Robert Lunsford of Sugar Land.

      He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Magdalena Lennie Bayer Gregurek; daughter, Carolyn Lunsford; sons, Timothy and Glen Gregurek; sisters, Della Hahn, Georgia Orsak, and Mary Myers; brothers, Albert, Frank, and John Gregurek.

      Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008, with a rosary recited at 7 p.m., at Ganado Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008, at Assumption Catholic Church with burial at Assumption Catholic Cemetery. Military graveside services will be by American Legion Post 346.  Pallbearers are Ray Schoenfeld, Bill Janecek, Clarence Schomburg, Philip Webernick, Donny Sparks, Bubba Toman, and Mike Konarik.  Honorary pallbearers will be American Legion Post 346, Assumption Catholic Church, KJT #71, Knights of Columbus, and VFW Post 3497.
       
      Memorials may be made to Accolade Hospice, 222 W. Grand Ave., Yoakum, Texas 77995, or Assumption Catholic Church, Ganado, Texas 77962.
