INEZ - Alphonse August Prukop, 86, of Inez, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008. He was born on Aug. 2, 1922, in Yorktown, to the late John and Christina Jablonski Prukop. After graduating from St. Joseph's High School in 1941, he served in the Air Force being stationed in Foster Field. Fonsey was the owner and operator of Prukop's Service Station in Inez for 38 years.

Mr. Prukop is survived by his wife, Erna Born Prukop of Inez; daughters, Sandy Shore and husband Gerry of Inez, Sharon Pargac and husband Gerald of La Grange, Kim Smith and husband Ron of Inez; son, Gary Prukop and wife Connie of Rockport; sister, Elizabeth Hybner of Victoria; brothers, Carl Prukop and Christopher Prukop, both of Telferner, Alvin Prukop of Kermit; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Prukop was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Kutchka and Florentina Prukop; and a brother, Joseph Prukop.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. today at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Inez with the Rev. Gabriel Bentil officiating. Interment will follow at the St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery with military honors provided by the Victoria Veteran's Council.
Pallbearers: Rick Hybner, Ronald Luster, Bob Prukop, Clipper Strickland, Fonsey Smith, Brian Pargac, Erick Pargac and Paul Prukop.
