VICTOR PATEK SR.SHINER - Victor Patek Sr., age 87, of Shiner, passed away Aug. 1, 2008. He was born July 31, 1921, in Shiner, to the late Charles Patek Sr. and Elizabeth Veit Patek.
Victor was a retired Butter Krust salesman for Richter Bakery. He was a member of Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, KJT, Knights of Columbus, honorary member of the Shiner Fire Department, the 621 Club, and director of the Shiner Game and Fish League.
Victor is survived by four sons, Marvin and wife Earlene Patek of Sweet Home, Ervin and wife Mary Patek of Moulton, Victor Jr. and wife Karen Patek of Shiner, and Michael and wife Rose Patek of Shiner; six daughters, Dorothy and husband Daniel Fojtik of Moulton, Ann and husband Robert Meyer of Houston, Carol Smith and Dodie Bannert of Katy, Darlene and husband Tim Kresta of Shiner, and Rosie and husband James Ross of Gonzales; three brothers, Charlie Patek Jr. of Shiner, Rudy Patek of Houston, and Dennis Patek of Pearland; a sister, Betty Kocian of Shiner; 29 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Victor was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Annie Patek (July 22, 2004); one grandson, John Fojtik; a brother, Gus Patek; and a sister, Helen Matula.
Visitation begins at 8 a.m. today at Buffington Funeral Home in Shiner. There will be a rosary at 7 p.m. today at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church. Another rosary will be at 7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 4, 2008 at Buffington Funeral Home in Shiner. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008 at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Shiner with burial to follow at Shiner Catholic Cemetery, the Rev. Bob Knippenburg officiating. Pallbearers will be David Fojtik, Marty Patek, Matt Patek, Nicholas Smith, Ryan Bannert, Kendle Patek, Cameron Kresta, and Duane Fojtik. Honorary pallbearers will be Daryl Fojtik, Curtis Patek, Scott Bannert, Kevin Patek, Dakota Kresta, and Conor Kresta.
