EDWIN J. CHANEK
Edwin J. Chanek, 67, of Victoria, died Saturday, July 15, 2000.
He was born Feb. 25, 1933, in Inez, to the late Ben and Mary Koutny Chanek. He worked in the oilfield, and was a rancher and member of Holy Family Catholic Church. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict, having served in the U.S. Army, and he was a member of Knights of Columbus, TPA, VFW and American Legion.
Survivors: wife, Clemmie Jo Chanek; daughter, Beverly Sappington of Victoria; son, Ron Chanek of Victoria; sisters, Ruby Stary of Guadalupe, Rosie Repka of Victoria and Dorothy Hill of Port Lavaca; brothers, V.B. Chanek of Ganado, Emil Chanek of Victoria, Leroy Chanek and Allen Chanek, both of Port Lavaca; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Preceded in death by: parents.
A rosary will be recited 7 p.m. Monday at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic Church, the Rev. Greg Korenek officiating.
Graveside services with full military honors under the auspices of VFW, DAV, CWV, American Legion, Marine Corps League and Military Order of the Purple Heart will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Colonial Funeral Home, Victoria, 578-3535.
