A resident of Patterson since 1956, he died at 11:03 a.m. Monday, Feb. 23, 2004, at Franklin Foundation. He was 81 and a native of Flatonia, Texas. Visitation at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Patterson, from 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, 2004, until Mass at noon, celebrated by the Rev. Richard Greene. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Patterson. Survived by his wife of 51 years, Kate Masek of Patterson; two daughters, Prissy and husband Lloyd Davis of Bayou Vista and Tina Bernard of Franklin; a brother, Joe Masek of Wharton, Texas; three sisters, Hattie Hlavinka of LaGrange, Texas, Anne Luman of Houston and Mary Macha of Rosenberg, Texas; eight grandchildren, Josh Davis, Lindsay Davis, Lauren Davis, Katie Davis, Geoffrey Gilmore, Gregory Gilmore, Deborah Bernard and Eric Bernard Jr.; and a great-granddaughter, Carinn Rink.
