FRIEDA BLASCHKE RENKENSHINER - We, on earth, mourn the loss of a beautiful woman; God rejoices with his newest angel. Frieda (Blaschke) Renken passed from earth's journey at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2008 in Warm Springs Specialty Hospital in Luling.
Frieda was born on Oct. 11, 1921, in Shiner, to Adolph and Mary (Kneifel)Blaschke. She lived her young life at the homestead tending to farm chores and helping with her family.
Frieda wed Newton Renken on Aug. 30, 1941 at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Shiner. She remained a dedicated homemaker until her children were raised.
Her children include: Ethelyn Jo Kutac along with husband A.J. of Hallettsville; Dennis Renken along with wife Grace of Victoria; Ray Renken along with wife, Cindy of Hallettsville; and Melinda (Lindy) Honish along with husband, Gary of Shiner.
When her baby began school, Frieda decided it was time for a career. She became employed at Tex Tan Welhausen in Yoakum and worked as a shipping clerk for over 25 years. Frieda and Newton were married for 64 years before Newton was called by our Lord on July 3, 2006. After that, Frieda remained at the home place until her passing. Frieda's family was her pride and joy.She was the "Matriarch"of 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Newton; her parents; her sisters, Hattie Caka, Flora Barcak; and her brothers Ben and Erwin Blaschke.
Frieda was homebound in the final two years of her life but had several special angels on earth that cared for her and must be mentioned. We thank her granddaughter, Jennifer Renken; her "adopted" provider-daughter, Maxine Nations; her home health nurse, Holly Rosales; and the staff of Advanced Home Health. She was also quite endeared to her special "trashman" Vic Strakos and her loving housekeeper, Hortensia Camarillo.
Frieda's services are as follows: public visitation will begin at 7 a.m., with a rosary service this evening at 7 p.m. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at Sts.
