      JEROME C . "J.C." MZYK

      VICTORIA - Jerome C. "J.C." Mzyk, 85, of Victoria, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2007. He was born May 17, 1922, in Falls City, to the late Jerome W. and Victoria Pruski Mzyk.

      "J.C." was a longtime member of Our Lady of Victory Cathedral where he served as an usher and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a loving, caring and giving man. Family was always his first priority. Whenever anyone needed his help, he was there. He was a hard working man. Even though he was retired, he did odd jobs until he was 83. He will be deeply missed by all.

      He is survived by his wife, Lydia Hobizal Mzyk; daughters, Kathy Scherer and husband Ray of Inez, and Sandra Mzyk of San Antonio; granddaughter, Leanne Hempel and husband Roger of Inez; grandson, Michael Scherer and wife Mindy of San Antonio; twin great-granddaughters, Falyn and Morgyn Hempel of Inez; and his great-grandson, Caden Hempel of Inez.  He is also survived by his sisters, Agnes Dziuk of Falls City, Sister M. Edith Mzyk and Vicki Traber of Victoria; and brother, Chester Mzyk of Falls City.
      He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Otilia "Tillie" Sczepanik, Rosalie Mzyk, Rosie Moczygemba Jendrush, and Anna "Annie" Kotara; and brothers, Alex and Fred Mzyk.
       
      Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008 at Grace Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2008, at Our Lady of Victory Cathedral with the Funeral Mass immediately following at 2 p.m. Monsignor Michael Harrold will officiate. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.  Pallbearers are Ray Traber, Daryl Traber, Emil Traber, III, Edward Moczygemba, Valerian Moczygemba, and Ronnie Dziuk.  Honorary pallbearers are his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Gilbert Navaira, Bennie Matus, Leroy Verdine, Henry A. "Butch" Roell, and the Our Lady of Victory Knights of Columbus.

      In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of South Texas, 605 Locust, Victoria, Texas 77901.
