      JEROME LOUIS STRNADEL

      HILLJE - Jerome Louis "Popo" Strnadel Sr., 97, of Hillje passed away on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2007 in Wharton. He was born Nov. 26, 1909, in Ellinger, to the late John and Josephine Orsak Strnadel.
       
      He was a retired cotton farmer, a Catholic, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus 2490. In his early years, he played semi-pro baseball and was well known for being an excellent short stop. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid gardener.

      He is survived by his son, Jerry Strnadel Jr. and wife Carole of Hillje; daughter, Sandra Stepan and husband Emil of El Campo; granddaughter, Stacy Cain and husband Kyle and their children, Tyler, Alexa and Janssen Cain, all of Needville; granddaughter, Shay Goudeau and husband Michael and their children, Logan and Reagan Goudeau, all of Hungerford; daughter, Mary Jane Strnadel of Houston; son, Robert Strnadel Sr. and wife Julie; grandson, Robert Strnadel Jr.; and granddaughters, Jennifer Childers and Rachel Strnadel, all of El Campo; son, Randy Strnadel and wife Melissa; grandsons, Barrett, Oliver and Peyton Strnadel, all of Richmond; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Elizabeth "Beady" Strnadel; his parents; and his 12 brothers and sisters. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

      Visitation will begin at 12 p.m. on Sunday at Triska Funeral Home. A parish rosary and KC wake service will be at 5 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m., Monday, Oct. 8, 2007 at St. Andrew's Catholic Church with the Rev. Clement Quainoo officiating. Interment will follow at St. Andrew's Catholic Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be his nephews, R.J. Strnadel, Mike Prasek, Ed Strnadel Jr., John Strnadel, Billy Strnadel, and Joe Strnadel Jr.  Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
      Memorial donations may be made to Hospice.
