EDITH HERMES POHLSWEET HOME - Edith Hermes Pohl, age 91, died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2007.She was born Sept. 21, 1915, in Sweet Home, to Jesse Jerry and Nancy Ann Dufner Lee. Edith was a homemaker and a Catholic.
She is survived by her daughters, Nell Jewell and husband John of Shiner, Linn Boehm and husband Les of Victoria, and Nan Jesperson and husband Jes of Castle Rock, Colo.; sons, Charles Hermes and wife Sharon of Sweet Home and Mike Hermes and wife Susan of Springfield, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and sister, Minnie Scheffler of Cuero. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Earl Mitchell Hermes, Ellis Sloan, and Harbett A. Pohl; granddaughter, Cheryl Ann Laake; and numerous brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be 6:30 to 8 p.m. today, with a wake service at 7:30 p.m., at Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home in Yoakum. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church with the Rev. Charles Sonnier officiating. Burial will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Resurrection Cemetery in Victoria.
Pallbearers: Dave Laake, Rick Laake, Ed Laake, Kenneth Hermes, Keith Hermes, Brian Hermes, Jeff Boehm and Kenneth Scheffler. Honorary pallbearers: Jennifer Carson, Kim Koenig and Britt Jesperson.
