RAYMOND HENRY POPELKA, 65, died on May 27, 2007, after a brave battle with brain cancer.
A native Houstonian, Raymond was a graduate of St. Thomas High School and the University of St. Thomas. He is a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam era. He then worked for 30 years in the banking industry. Raymond was an extremely kind and patient man, whose presence will be missed. His greatest joys came from spending time with his family, and his strong commitment to his Catholic faith.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Anna Popelka. Those to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 39 years, Marie Glasco Popelka; daughter Michelle Popelka Bily and husband Mike; daughter Monica; sons Christopher and Eric; grandchildren Alan and Amanda Bily; sister Ann Jurecka and husband Morris; numerous relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 pm on Wednesday, May 30, 2007 with a rosary recited at 7:00 pm in the Chapel of Pat H. Foley Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 4213 Mangum Rd., on Thursday, May 31, 2007 at 10:00 am with celebrant Rev. Benjamin Smaistrla. Interment will follow at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery.
