Georgia Chernik Hrachovy, 86, passed away on April 25, in California .
Hrachovy, a long time resident of Colorado County , was born on March 11, 1921 to Joe Chernik and Lydia (Koehl) Chernik. She attended Santa Anna School and graduated from La Grange High School as the salutatorian. She then received her teacher's certificate from Sam Houston Teacher's College and ended up teaching at Santa Anna School . She married Ben J. Hrachovy on May 12, 1941 and relocated to California where they lived for 41 years. They returned to Texas in 1982 to her childhood home where they lived for their retirement years. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Czech Heritage Society, Colorado County Historical Commission, the Columbus Garden Club, St. Anthony's Catholic Church and Bible Study.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
Survivors include one daughter, Melinda H. Lyon of Calabasas, Calif.; two sons, David J. Hrachovy and wife Carole of Corona, Calif. and Thomas J. Hrachovy and wife Lisa of Yorba Linda, Calif.; four grandchildren, John Lyon, Christopher Hrachovy, Sara Hrachovy and Matthew Hrachovy; two sisters Jo Lene Whitehurst of Houston and Lou Ann Meyers of Seguin.
Services will be conducted starting with visitation at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus on May 4 at 3 p.m. followed by a rosary at 7 p.m. The funeral Mass will take place Saturday, May 5 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ellinger with interment in the La Grange City Cemetery in La Grange .

Frances Janda Rainosek
Funeral services for Frances (Janda) Rainosek, 94, of the Hostyn community were held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 30 at the Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hostyn with Msgr. Stanley Petru officiating assisted by Deacon John McCourt.l Interment followed in the church cemetery.
She was born Dec. 2, 1912, in the Hostyn Community of Fayette County, the daughter of C. M. and Bessie (Kallus) Janda. She married Pete Rainosek in Hostyn. A lifetime resident of the La Grange area, she assisted her husband with dairy farming from 1947 until 1977. She was a homemaker and she was best known for her quilting and making quilts. She was a faithful and lifetime member of the Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hostyn where she was the church organist for over 60 years, retiring at the age of 79. She was a member of the church choir and was a member of the Hostyn Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court #2282, a member of the K.J.Z.T. Society #23 in Hostyn, the Living Rosary Society of Hostyn and the Christian Mothers of Hostyn.
She died Thursday, April 26 at Care Inn of La Grange.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, one sister, Beatrice Kubasak; and two brothers, infant Vaclav Janda and George Janda.
Survivors include: one daughter, Emily Cernoch and husband Sidney of La Grange; four sons, Gil Rainosek of San Marcos, Larry Rainosek and wife Dorothy of Albuquerque, N.M., Andy Rainosek of Austin, Dennis Rainosek of Houston; 11 grand-children, Daniel Cernoch and wife Rose Ann, Richard Cernoch and wife Becki, Elaine Matthys and husband Matt, Phyliss Chavarria, Alan Rainosek and wife Olga, Mike Rainosek and wife Michelle, Debbie Rainosek, Shannon Hurley and husband Patrick, Kimberly Rainosek, and Jennifer Reeves and husband Chris; 19 great-grandchildren, on great-great-grandchild; four sisters, Mary Lidiak and Ann Wessels, both of La Grange, Dolores Prilop and husband George of Angleton, and Victoria Kolaja of Houston; and three brothers, Ben Janda of La Grange, Leo Janda and wife Willie Mae of La Grange, Vit Janda and wife Gertrude of Bellville.
Memorials may be made to the Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church at Hostyn.
