Eugene L. Kubala, 85, of Hillsboro, passed away Friday, March 30, 2007, in
Waco. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 10
a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott, with
the REv. Gary Swircyznski as celebrant. Burial will follow at Fatima
Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the
Eugene was born Aug 17 1921 near West, the son of Will and Emily (Hutyra)
Kubala. He attended Cottonwood School and served his country in the US Navy
during WW II. On Oct 18, 1948 he was united in marriage to Sophie
Pustejovsky. They moved to the Chatt area where he farmed his entire life,
before retiring in 1986. Eugene enjoyed hard work. He served on the Abbott
School Board, was Director of Chatt Water Supply District and a director of
the Abbott gin. Eugene was a lifelong member of the Immaculate Heart of
Mary Catholic Church and KJT Society #107.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Bessie Pustejovsky; and
two brothers, Willie Kubala and Eddie Kubala.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Sophie Kubala of Hillsboro; two
sons, Charles Kubala and wife Eileen of Waco, and Richard Kubala and wife
Kim Of Lancaster; one daughter, Dolores Kubala of Irving; five
grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other
relatives and friends.
