SUROVIK, , WILLIAM BRUCE Bruce "Ringo" Surovik was born in Dallas, Texas on May 1, 1951, and passed away at the age of 55 on November 29, 2006. He was a talented rock and roll drummer but his musical passion began as a child when his parents MADE him take piano lessons. He played coronet in the J.T. Hill Junior High and Bryan Adams High School Marching Bands. He finally found the perfect musical instrument with his first Ludwig drum set as a teenager and the Beatles being his major influence. Bruce was currently drumming for Kenny and the Kasuals and during his career played with Stevie Ray Vaughn in Blackbird, Bloodrock, The Shades, Daniel, Gunpoint, The Stratoblasters, and many other bands too numerous to name. He also worked as a computer technician with the law firm of Hughes & Luce and Texas Instruments. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Henry and Mary Skupin Surovik. He is survived by his wife, Lisa Parks Surovik (their cats, Lucy, Grayson and Annie), brother, Howard Surovik and fiance June Baker, sister Amy Wommack and husband Drew, nieces and nephews McKay and William Wommack, Lindsey Tippins, Kasey Parks, Daniel, Beth and Laura Rodriguez, and Hannah Lacey as well as numerous relatives and friends. His keen sense of humor, generosity, compassionate heart and tremendous talent will be greatly missed. Visitation is 11a.m.-9p.m. Sunday, December 3, 2006 at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 2:00p.m. Monday, December 4, 2006 at Laurel Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Bill Parks and W. Allen Fuqua officiating. Interment will follow at Laurel Oaks Memorial Park, Mesquite.
