Lillian Marie Janik of Wharton and formerly of Nada and El Campo, died on December 1, 2006 at the age of 91.
She was born on July 1, 1915 in Shiner to the late John and Marie Barta Hurtl. She was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Daughters and the Christian Mothers, the KJZT Society and was a homemaker.
She is survived by daughters Millie Sobieski and husband John of Seguin, Bitsy Lackley and husband Alan of Wharton, Caroline Ottis and husband Dick of El Campo, sons John Janik and wife Rose of Missouri City, Robert Janik and wife Jody of Weslaco, George Janik and wife Sharon of Arlington, brother Jerry Hurtl of Olivia, sister Della Barber of Port Lavaca, sister-in-laws Agnes Hurtl, Rose Hill, Chris Dwyer and Martha Mauritz, 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, stepmother Lillie Hurtl, her husband of 64 years Steve Janik, 3 grandchildren and several brothers and sisters.
Visitation will begin on Sunday at 10 AM. A rosary will be recited at 5 PM on Sunday, December 3, 2006 at Triska Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM on Monday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Wharton with Rev. Dominic Antwi-Boasiako officiating. Burial will be at the Evergreen Memorial Park in Wharton under the direction of Triska Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Lance, Mike, Jeff, Clay, Jacob and Jordan Janik and Richard Lockley. Honorary pallbearers are Sheri Dixon, Leah Frankum, Lynnette Reinhardt, Carrie Schulz and Jamie Gillar.
