      Mary Cecile Greene, 68, of West, passed away Sunday Oct. 1, 2006, in Waco.
      A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 3 p.m.
      Wed. Oct 4, 2006 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption with REv.
      Ed Karasek as celebrant, assisted by the Rev. Ann Hitt. Burial will follow
      at St. Mary's Cemetery near West. The family will receive visitors from 6
      to 8 pm Tues., Oct 3, at Aderhold Funeral Home.

      Mary was born April 19, 1938 in West, the daughter of John and Leona
      (Polasek) Nemecek. She attended St. Mary's School and graduated from West
      High School in 1956 and Sam Houston State in 1959 with a Bachelor of
      Education degree. On Aug 9, 1959, she was united in marriage to Jim Greene
      in West. Mary taught at several schools in the area, including Mountainview
      Elementary, Lacy-Lakeview Elementary and Elm Mott. She was also manager and
      co-owner of Nemecek Brothers Meat Market for 12 years. Mary had a love for
      animals and livestock and competed in barrel racing for many years. She won
      the National State Finals in barrel racing in the 50 and over age division,
      and at age 61, Mary won the barrel racing competition at the World Paint
      Horse Show. She was a member of West Longhorn Club, where she was one of
      the first Rodeo Sweethearts and served as rodeo secretary for many years;
      Texas Senior Rodeo Association, where she also served as secretary for many
      years; and a board member of the Heart of Texas Fair and Rodeo Association,
      where she served as livestock secretary. Mary was an avid fan of the Lady
      Bear Basketball Team and was a season ticket holder. She was also a member
      of Catholic Daughters of America Court #829 and a lifelong member of St.
      Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption.

      Survivors include her beloved husband of 47 years, Jim Greene of West; one
      son Cliff Greene of Palestine; one granddaughter, Autumn of Idaho Falls,
      Idaho; one uncle, Raymond Nemecek of West; one aunt, Adele Nemecek of West;
      two nephews, Sean Greene of Rosenberg and Chantz Greene and wife Jodie of
      Rock Springs; a sister-in-law, Paulette Greene of Rosenberg; her horse RB's
      Dude; Boston Terrier Bulldog, Rocky; and cousins, relatives and friends.

      Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Parish Center, First United Methodist
      Church of West, or the American Cancer Society.
