      HALLETTSVILLE - Jaro J. Svetlik, 87, of Hallettsville, formerly of Victoria, died Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2006.

      He was born June 24, 1919, in Hallettsville, to the late Adolph and Agnes Tobola Svetlik. He was a mechanic in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II, a retired mechanic with Atzenhoffer, and a Catholic.

      Survivors: sons, Jarald Louis Svetlik of Lockport, N.Y. and Daniel Dean Svetlik of Victoria; sister, Marcella Kalisek of Moulton; brothers, Alfonse Svetlik of Shiner and Frank Svetlik of Moulton; and two grandchildren.

      Preceded in death by: wife, Edith Svetlik; and sisters, Mary Matula, Cecilia Janak, Lillie Berckenhoff, and Agnes Svetlik.

      Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. tonight at Colonial Funeral Home in Victoria.

      A rosary will be recited 9:30 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville.

      Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. John Peters officiating.

      Burial with full military honors, under the auspices of the Victoria County Veterans Council, AL, CWV, VFW, DAV, MCL, MOWW, Ex-POW, MOPH, VVA, and the KWV, will be 2:30 p.m. Friday at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Victoria. Colonial Funeral Home, Victoria, 361-578-3535.

      Pallbearers: Casper Janak, Jerry Janak, Henry Janak, Leon Matula, Leon Svetlik, Jr. L. Svetlik.

      Memorials: Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Hospice of South Texas.
