EDWIN A. VELEK, 86, died August 2, 2006.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Frances Hodanek Velek; two brothers, Charlie and Adolph Velek; two sisters, Della Drabek and Vlasta Peterek and his first wife, Helen Pulkrabek Velek.
Mr. Velek was a retired retail buyer for Sears. Edwin was a Veteran of World War II and The European Theater of Operations. He was in the United States Army, served with the 47th AAA Brigade and participated in the invasion of Normandy.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Margaret Velek, 1 sister-in-law; 3 step-daughters; 12 step-grandchildren; 21 step-great-grandchildren; 1 step-great-great grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m., Friday, August 4, 2006, with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at SouthPark Funeral Home. A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 5, 2006 in the chapel at SouthPark Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Pallbearers are Larry Drabek, Edward Mikes, Buck King, Dennis Velek, Adolph Velek and George Hardin
