Funeral services were held today for JOHN W. KERACIK, 55, of Houston, Texas, formerly of N. Belle Vernon, PA who died Sunday, July 30, 2006.
A son of Olivia Brandbary Barnhart and husband Glenn Barnhart of N. Belle Vernon and the late John P. Keracik, he was born in N. Charleroi, PA on June 27, 1951. He was a member of the Cy-Fair Assembly of God Church of Cypress. He had been a store manager for Radio Shack. He earned his teaching degree from California University of Pennsylvania and taught high school in Virginia before deciding to use his proficiencies as a multi-language linguist with a career in the U.S. Army with over 23 years of service. He enjoyed scuba diving, bicycling and inline skating. John was a quiet man, always smiling and liked to tease his many friends. Over the years, he had resided in Germany, California, Virginia and Texas.
Also surviving is a sister and brother-in-law, Kathleen Brown and Henry Lokay of Bethel Park, PA, a brother and sister-in-law, Charles S. and Melinda Keracik of Kuwait City, Kuwait, 8 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and great nephews.
Services were handled by the Ferguson Funeral Home, Inc. and Cremation Service, www.fereusonfuneralhome.net, a Golden Rule Member Firm, (724-929-5300), 700 Broad Avenue, Belle Vernon. Interment was in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. Condolences may be given through the funeral home website.
