GONZALES - Fred E. Koricanek, 74, of Gonzales, died Thursday, July 27, 2006, in San Antonio.
He was born June 8, 1932, in Flatonia, to the late Charles W. and Lena Syrinek Koricanek. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Armored Division in Korea serving as a sergeant, a farmer and rancher, and member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign War, Disabled American Veterans, the Second Indian Division, the Farm Bureau and Independent Cattlemen's Association, and Memorial Heights Baptist Church.
Survivors: wife, Barbara Koricanek; daughter, Cynthia Sarten of San Antonio; stepdaughter, Donna Wyatt Vidales of Victoria; sons, Jeff Koricanek, Joel Koricanek, and Fred E. Koricanek Jr., all of Gonzales; stepson, John Wyatt of San Antonio; sisters, Viola Holt of Harwood, Millie Owens of Odessa, and Allene Phillipus of San Angelo; brothers, Jim Koricanek of Arlington, Wash., George Joe Koricanek of Seguin, and Walter Koricanek of Nordheim; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: sisters, Rosie Hunter and Elsie Catchings; brothers, Frank Koricanek, Lewis Koricanek, and Emil Koricanek.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home Chapel.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at the chapel, the Rev. Clint Lowery officiating.
Burial will be at Gonzales Memorial Park Cemetery. Seydler-Hill Funeral Home, Gonzales, 830-672-3232.
