      George Gaertner came to the US in 1966 (His name was George Zahradnik).
      His first wife died on the ship over giving birth to second child. He
      married Magadalena Wagner and after she died, he married Maria Ripper
      Jemelka a widow with 2 sons.

      Children are:

      Joseph Gaertner /m/ Josephine Kubenka
      Anna Gaertner /m/ Ed Mueller and then Frank Kainer
      Bertha Gaertner /m/ Anton Koncba
      Ferdinand Gaertner /m/ Mary Kloesel
      Mary Gaertner /m/ John Bezecny
      Louise Gaertner /m/ Mucka
      Frank Gaertner /m/ Anna Urbish

      Step sons of George Gaertner and children of Mary Ripper Jemelka are:
      Joseph Jemelka /m/ Frances Kubenka
      Anton Jemelka /m/ Catherine Caka


      The 44th George Gaertner Family Reunion

      The 44th George Gaertner Family Reunion has been set for Sunday, April
      23, 2006, beginning at 10 a.m. at the Kaspar Pavilion at the
      Green-Dickson Park in Shiner, TX.. Bring enough food for your family.
      The meal will be served buffet-style. Drinks and paper goods will be
      provided. Registration is $5 per family.

      A mass will be celebrated the morning of April 23 at 6:30 a.m. at St.
      Joseph’s Catholic Church in Moulton for the family.

      Please bring an item for the silent auction and photos to share. There
      will be door prizes and FUN for all! Contact Gerri Martisek, for more
      details.

      It s really interesting to see how Czechs change there names to an english version of there names. Zahradnik = gardener in Czech.

          In this case, the story goes that the family moved to the High Hill area
          and since this area was mostly German, they did not want to seem out of
          place by being Czech, so they changed their name from Zahradnik to
          Gaertner. Some of the family has also changed it to Gertner.
