VICTORIA - Joseph "Joe J." Schramek, 89, of Victoria, died Friday, March 31, 2006.
He was born Oct. 29, 1916, in Schulenburg, to the late Joseph W. and Celestine Vasek Schramek. He retired in 1967 from the oilfield and was a Christian. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, where he served in the Asiatic-Pacific Campaigns and received the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with 5 bronze stars, the Phillipine Liberation Medal with 2 bronze stars, the American Theater Campaign Medal, The American Defense Medal, a Distinguished Unit Badge, and a Good Conduct Medal.
Survivors: wife, Doris Mueller Schramek; daughter, Betty J. Blanton of Victoria; son, Marvin R. Schramek of Victoria; sister, Louise Scherer of Victoria; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: sister, Tina Schoener; brothers, Frank Schramek, George Schramek, Jim Schramek, and Charlie Schramek; and one grandchild.
Visitation will be 6 p.m. Monday at Colonial Funeral Home chapel.
A prayer service will be 7 p.m. Monday at the chapel.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel, the Rev. Dennis Schramek officiating.
Burial with full military honors, under the auspices of the Victoria County Veterans Council, AL, CWV, VFW, DAV, MCL, MOWW, Ex-POW, MOPH, VVA, and the KWV, will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Memorials: Veterans of Foreign Wars or the American Heart Association.
