      AMass of Christian Burial for VERNA R. KMIECIK, 90, of New Waverly will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 1, 2006, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Rev. Dao Kim Nguyen as celebrant. Rite of Committal to follow at El Mina Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, March 31, 2006, with a Vigil at 7:00 p.m., at Metcalf Funeral Home.
       
      Verna was born June 18, 1915, in New Waverly, TX and passed away March 29, 2006, in Texas City, TX. Mrs. Kmiecik is preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Kmiecik; parents, Henry and Annie Wojcik; brothers, Bernice Wojcik, John Wojcik, Leon Wojcik, Kie Wojcik, Bill Wojcik, Edward Wojcik and Florian Wojcik; sister, Alice Gregory; granddaughter, Carolyn Kmiecik; daughter-in-law, Dorothy Kmiecik and son-in-law, Joseph A. Hurst. She is survived by daughter, Jeanette Hurst; son, James Kmiecik and wife Linda; grandchildren, Christopher Hurst and wife Barbara, Janet Hurst and fiancé Dr. William Whitehead, Margaret Grant and husband Michael, Kathryn Vernau and husband George; great grandchildren, Madeline Grant, Abigail Grant, Elizabeth Grant, Charlotte Grant, Katelyn Hurst, and one beloved niece, Dorothy Novak and husband John.
       
       Pallbearers are Christopher Hurst, Michael Grant, George Vernau, Dr. William Whitehead, Mark Novak and Greg Novak.
