Joyce Emma Riha of Pierce, died Sunday, Feb. 26, 2006 at the age of 77.
She was born to Willie and Emma Klapuch Hilscher on Sept. 6, 1928 in Lavaca County .
She is survived by her daughters, Susan Riha of Houston, Carol Turner of Louise and husband Tommy; son Glenn Riha of El Campo and wife Kathy; five grandchildren, Troy Riha and wife Tiffany, Todd Riha and wife Alicia, Toby Riha, Lindsey Riha and Justin Turner; great-grandchild, Cole Riha; sister, Dolores Janak of Hallettsville; and brother, Boyce Hilscher of Houston.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Louis L. Riha, who passed away on August 24, 2005; daughter, Donna Riha; and son, Roy Riha.
Mrs. Riha was a member of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, SPJST of Moravia, Life Member of Wharton County Youth Fair and Exposition, and Wharton County Farm Bureau. She was the Moravia High School Valedictorian Class of 1944 and a farmer-rancher and avid gardener.
Visitation will be today, Wednesday, March 1 at 11 a.m. at Triska Funeral Home. A Rosary will follow this evening at 7 p.m. at Triska Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 2 at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in El Campo at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Gary Janak officiating. Graveside services will be on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hallettsville.
Pallbearers will be Troy Riha, Todd Riha, Toby Riha, Lindsey Riha, Justin Turner, and Larry Hilscher.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the El Campo EMS.
Memorial donations may be made to El Campo EMS or Wharton County Youth Fair Scholarship Fund in memory of Joyce Riha.
