      EL CAMPO - Mr. Celestine Kristian Zalman, age 88, of El Campo, passed away on Thursday December 29, 2005. He was born on December 20, 1917 in East Bernard to the late Anton and Albina Pilcik Zalman.

      Mr. Zalman was a farmer and rancher and a member of K.J.T. society, American Legion and a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II.

      Survivors include his wife Vernita Braden Zalman, daughters Catherine Ormsby and husband Harry of Rockdale and Irene Barr and husband Garland of El Campo, sisters Mary Valchar and Agnes Zamazal both of El Campo, brother Albert Zalman of Bay City and Grandchildren, Megan Knudsen, Celeste Williams and Eugene Barr.

      He was preceded in death by his parents, infant brothers Anthony and Richard also brothers, Edward, William, Jerome, and Joe Zalman Sr.

      Visitation will begin on Sunday at 1 PM at Triska Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 5 PM at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10 AM at St. Philips Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Memorial Park.

      Pallbearers will be Eugene Barr, Chris Knudsen, Martin Williams, Cedric Popp, Michael Popp, and Gary Schoenfield.

      Memorial donations may be made to St. Philip's Church Building Fund or St. Philip's Catholic School Endowment Fund.
