      Funeral services for Lou Alma Sabrsula, 82, of Sealy were held Saturday, Nov. 19, from St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wallis, with Rev. Ray Spitzenberger celebrating the funeral mass and rite of committal. Interment was held Hartsville Cemetery near Wallis. Serving as pallbearers were Allen Dworsky, Craig King, David Sabrsula, Matthew Dittert, Leon Gwosdz and Scott Sabrsula.

      Lou Alma Kurtz Sabrsula was born Sept. 6, 1923 to Will R. Kurtz and Lizzie Remmert Kurtz. Lou Alma was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sealy. She grew up in Sealy and played the drum and bugle corps for Sealy High School . On Dec. 31, 1945, Lou Alma Kurtz and Johnnie W. Sabrsula were joined in Holy Matrimony by Rev. O.C. Schreiner at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sealy, a union that was blessed with 2 children, Lynell and Brenda. During World War 11, she worked at Dixie Gun in Houston and was inspector when the war ended. She was a devoted wife and mother, dedicated to her family, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to crochet and enjoyed camping in the travel trailer with her family and friends. She looked forward to playing "42" and "88" on these trips. In fact, she and Johnnie took their well-equipped camper on at least seven Easter time vacations. Even on the road, Lou Alma would make hollowed out Easter eggs filled with candy for her grandchildren. Her grandson Allen wondered each Easter how the Easter Bunny could find them wherever they happened to be camping. Lou Alma also took great pleasure in making special birthday cakes for her grandchildren, making them in the shape representing their age. She attended church faithfully throughout her active life and was a member of the Ladies Aid. Lou Alma Sabrsula passed a way Wednesday Nov. 16. In Sealy.

      She survived by her husband, Johnnie of Wallis, daughter, Lynell Dworsky and husband Al of Victoria, son-in-law, Bill Hinson of West Columbia, three grandchildren, Allen Dworsky and wife Kristin of Austin, Beverly Jund and husband John of St. Augustine, Florida and Cindy King and husband Craig of Sweeny, two great-grandchildren, Alex Yamato and Bailey Brooke Dworsky, 7 nephews and 2 nieces.

      Proceeded in death by her parents, Will and Lizzie Kurtz, her brother Wilbert Kurtz, her daughter Brenda Faye Hinson and her great granddaughter, Mallory King.
