      SHINER- The Rev. Edwin Julius Oehlke, 93, of Shiner, died Tuesday, Sept. 27,
      2005.
      He was born July 24, 1912, in Weesatche, to the late Gus Sr. and Bertha
      Hoffman Oehlke. He was a Lutheran preacher.

      Survivors: stepdaughter, Jane McKinnon of Houston; stepson, Howard Hengst of
      Houston.

      Preceded in death by: wife, Amanda Oehlke; and sister, Emma Schlinke.

      Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. tonight at Buffington Funeral Home in Shiner.

      Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at United Dr. Martin Luther Lutheran Church,
      the Rev. Lynnae Sorensen officiating.

      Burial will be at Shiner Cemetery. Buffington Funeral Home, Shiner,
      361-594-3352.

        SHINER- The Rev. Edwin Julius Oehlke, 93, of Shiner, died Tuesday, Sept. 27,
        2005.
        He was born July 24, 1912, in Weesatche, to the late Gus Sr. and Bertha
        Hoffman Oehlke. He was a Lutheran pastor, having served in United Dr. Martin
        Luther Lutheran Church, in Shiner, Immanuel Lutheran in Dreyer; Ascension
        Lutheran in Lubbock; Dr. Martin Luther in Colettoville; Emmanuel Lutheran in
        Inez and Bethel Lutheran in Lyford, all in Texas. He was also instrumental
        in building Trinity Lutheran Home, now Shiner Nursing and Rehabilitation
        Center and served as its first administrator.

        Survivors: stepdaughter, Jane McKinnon of Houston; stepson, Howard Hengst of
        Houston; and brother, Martine Oehlke of Weesatche; and several
        stepgrandchildren.

        Preceded in death by: wife, Amanda Oehlke; and sister, Emma Schlinke; and
        brothers, Gus Oehlke Jr., Paul Oehlke, Ewarld Oehlke Sr., Herman Oehlke,
        Oscar Oehlke and Berthold Oehlke.
