HALLETTSVILLE - Alphonse J. Hemmi, 86, of Hallettsville, died Monday, July 4, 2005.
He was born Feb. 21, 1919, in Lavaca County, to the late Gus and Frances Matejek Hemmi. He was the owner and operator or Hemmi Machine Shop for over 21 years, a veteran of World War II, and a member of: Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, American Legion, and VFW. He received the American Campaign Medal, Europe/Africa/Middle East Campaign Medal with one battle star for the Rhineland Campaign, a Good Conduct Medal, a victory ribbon, one service stripe, and five overseas bars.
Survivors: brother, Walter Hemmi of Hallettsville.
Preceded in death by: sisters, Annie Hemmi, Evelyn Theisen, and Helen Hemmi; and brothers, Leon Hemmi and two infants.
Visitation will be noon today at Kubena Funeral Home chapel.
A rosary will be recited 7 p.m. tonight at the chapel and 9:30 p.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Bryan Heyer officiating.
