      Funeral services for William E. "Bill" Valicek, 72, of Cat Spring, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Rosenberg. Interment will follow at West Gethsemane Cemetery in Rosenberg with the Rev. Dan Warden officiating the services.

      Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 27, 2004 with a Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg.

      Bill was born April 18, 1931 in Schulenburg to Willie and Frances Zacek Valicek. He passed away Feb. 25, 2004 in Houston after a brief illness. He was a member of St. Roch's Catholic Church in Mentz, and a former member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Rosenberg.

      He served his country in the Air Force from 1951-1954. Bill belonged to American Legion Post No. 271 and KJT Post No. 90, and was a 3rd Degree with the Knights of Columbus, Council No. 2801.

      He is preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Frances Valicek; brother, Ernest Valicek; sister, Stella Valicek Zapalac; and brother-in-law, Casper W. "C.W." West Jr.

      Bill is survived by his siblings, Edwin Valicek and wife Norine of Houston, Edith Valicek of Brookshire, Martha Valicek Macha and husband Raymond Sr., Mary Ann West of Rosenberg, John Valicek and wife Billie, of Canyon Lake; and numerous other nieces, nephews, great-nephews and other relatives and friends.

      Pallbearers are Raymond Macha Jr., Mark Macha, Michael Macha, Donnie Macha, Pat Zapalac, Edwin Valicek Jr., and Ron Stewart.

      Honorary pallbearers are Drayton Fults III, Joshua Fults, Nicholas Fults, Brian Lane, John Agnor IV, Gregory Macha, Alan Macha, Dave Schulz and Wilbur Herr.

      For those wishing, donations may be made to Holy Rosary Organ Fund, 1416 George, Rosenberg, Texas 77471; the American Cancer Society, Greater Houston Area, P.O. Box 570127, Houston, Texas 77257; or the charity of your choice.
