He was born on August 2, 1930 in Nada, Texas to the late Ferdinand F. and Anna Marie Popp. He was a retired truck driver and served as a Private First Class in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by son Allen Popp and wife Doreen of El Campo, daughters Sandy Popp of East Bernard, Darlene Kahanek of El Campo, and Lynell Ustynik and husband Scott of Wharton, grandchildren Cody Kahanek, Meagan Kahanek, Jenna Popp, Taylor Ustynik and Hunter Ustynik, sister-in-law Mary Popp of Nada, brother-in-law Albert Winter of Hillje and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Virginia Valigura Popp, sister Cecilia Winter and brothers Albert Popp and Louis Popp.
A Parish Rosary will be recited at 7 PM on Friday at the Triska Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM on Saturday at the St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church with Rev. Gary Janak officiating. Burial with military honors under the auspices of American Legion Post 251 will follow at the Holy Cross Memorial Park. Visitation will begin at 12 noon on Friday.
