UNITY OF THE BRETHREN IN TEXAS (1855-1966) page 54 states that three
congregations were founded from 1914-1919: Cooks Point in Burleson
Co and Houston and Crosby in Harris County.

Pg 56 states that the historical records of the Crosby congregation
have been lost so it is impossible to determine definitely the year
of organization. Earliest famiies arriving in Crosby in about 1890:
Martin Hlavaty, John Danek, Charles Marek, J.C. Psencik, Josef E.
Svoboda, Josef Londa and Josef Skrabanek. The Rev. Adolf Chlumsky wa
the first minister to conduct services there.

This book compiled by the Christian Sisters can be seen at the Czech
Heritage Library/Archives, 4117 Willowbend, Houston or any Brethren
Church library. An updated book will be available by the Unity of the
Brethren at their 60th convention in Taylor Texas July 10-12, 2003.

1457 - The Unity of the Brethren - Unitas Fratrum - organized in
Bohemia by the followers of M. Jan Hus, the martyr.

1903 - The Unity was renewed in Granger, Texas as the Evangelical
Unity of the Czech-Moravian Brethren by the descendents of the old
Unity. This year is the 100th anniversary.
