      Willie Henry Chovanec, 78, of Victoria, and formerly of El Campo, died Wednesday, April 30, 2003.

      He was born June 28, 1924, in El Campo, to the late Willie Frank and Annie Vasicek Chovanec. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in WWII and enlisted in the U.S. Army after WWII. He was a pot man with Alcoa for 15 years and worked maintenance with First Victoria National Bank.

      Survivors: daughters, Linda Sprayberry of Deer Park, Carolyn Sue Nash of Houston and Barbara Jean Hersom of Mississippi; sisters, Emma Holub of El Campo and Lillian Boone of Houston; brother, Victor Chovanec of Victoria; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

      Preceded in death by: wife, Jewel Evelyn Chovanec; parents; and brothers, Julius Chovanec and Lee Roy Chovanec.

      Visitation will begin 10 a.m. today at Triska Funeral Home chapel.

      Services will be 4 p.m. today at the funeral home chapel, the Rev. Clement Quainoo officiating.

      Burial will be at St. Procopius Cemetery in Louise. Triska Funeral Home, El Campo, 979-543-3681.
