      Daniel Emil Vasek passed away March 1, 2002. He was born August 4, 1928 in Zabcikville, Texas to the late Emil and Verlie Vasek. He worked on the family farm and also as a carpenter in Temple, Texas. He was a Veteran having served two years during the Korean Conflict. He moved to Victoria in 1952 to continue carpentry with Johnny Pavlica and then started his own carpentry business in 1979. He retired the summer of 2000.

      He is survived by his wife; Margaret "Tootsie" King-Vasek, daughter; Beverly Doolittle and husband David of S. Lake Tahoe, CA., granddaughter; Brandace Kling of San Francisco, CA, brothers; James Vasek of Holland, TX, John Vasek of Temple, TX, sisters; Naomi Wilde of Pasadena, TX, Julia Cook of Victoria, TX, Shirley Jean Snow of Temple, TX, step-son; Charley King and wife Lynda and their daughter Jennifer of Victoria, TX, John King and wife Katrina and their daughter Kristin of the Woodlands, TX.

      He was preceded in death by first wife Virgie Ann Vasek.

      Serving as pallbearers will be James Andres, Shirley Lynn Snow, Wayne Stevens, James Vasek, John Vasek and Andy Wearden. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Cook, Steven Crump, Charley King, John King, Randy Snow and Ronnie Snow.

      Dan dearly loved his family, friends, his dogs and bowling.

      Funeral services will be held Monday, March 3, 2003, 1:00 P.M. at the Rosewood Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dominic Antwi-Boasiako, Brother Henry Learn and Mr. Dan W. Goyen officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Rosewood Funeral Chapels in charge of arrangements. (361) 573-4546.
