CUBA L. BURLESON
Cuba L. Burleson, 82, of Bellville, died Jan. 24, 2001, in a Houston
Funeral services were Jan. 27 at Knesek Bros./Etlinger Funeral Chapel
in Bellville with Rev. Roy Biser officiating. Burial was in Oak
Knoll Cemetery in Bellville.
Pallbearers were Fred Bates, Joe Norris, R.L. Kause, Glenn Kaase,
Harry Zander and Nolam Krebs. Honorary pallbearers were members of
the Bellville Lions Club and the Bellville American Legion Post.
He was born Nov. 20, 1918, in Concord to Albert and Ludie Burns
Burleson. He was raised in Concord and attended the Concord Public
He served his country during World War II in the United States Army
where he received the American Defense Ribbon, American Theater
Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and on service stripe.
On June 29, 1943, he married Mary Sklar at the Immaculate Conception
Catholic Church in Industry. He owned and operated the Burleson
Service Station and Ranch King Trailers both in Bellville, and was a
salesman for Boriack Motors in Bellville and was a rancher.
He was a member of the Bellville Lions Club, the Bellville American
Legion, Texas Sportsmen Association, Austin County Livestock
Association, Coshatte Agricultural Society, Texas Extension
Educational Association and the 100 Club of Austin County.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Ludie Burns,
mother-in-law and father-in-law, Herminia and Joe Sklar; three
sisters, Eva Kennedy, Bunice Harris and Lucile Dobos; and six
brothers, Curtis Burleson, Clyde Burleson, Chester Burleson, Lester
Burleson, Marvin Burleson and Lynch Burleson.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Burleson of Bellville;
two daughters and a son-in-law, Cindy and Jerry Kiemsteadt of
Bellville and Mary Dillion of Houston; three sons and daughters-in-
law, Cuba Joe and Linda Burleson of Bellville, Edward Lee and Glenda
Burleson of Houston, David Ray and Becky Burleson of Sealy; a sister,
Cleo Millican of Houston; nine grandchildren and two grandchildren-in-
law, Stacy and Bruce Pepper, Brandt Dillon, Clint and Amy Kiemsteadt,
Lindsay Wehring, Michelle Burleson, Kelli Burleson, Thomas Wehring,
Evie Burleson and Travis Burleson; and three great-grandchildren,
Miranda Dillon, Ashley Pepper and Kennedy Kiemsteadt.
