      HALLETTSVILLE - Leroy Bludau, 79, of Hallettsville, died Saturday,
      Feb. 1, 2003.
      He was born Sept. 19, 1923, in Hallettsville, to the late Andres
      Anton and Annie Friesenhan Bludau. He was a veteran of WWII,
      participating in the Normandy landing and serving through Central
      Europe to the Rhineland. He received the rank of sergeant, the
      Europe/Africa/Middle East Campaign Medal with three bronze battle
      stars, the Purple Heart with one oak leaf cluster, the Good Conduct
      Medal and the Combat Infantryman Badge. He was a member of Knights of
      Columbus Council No. 2433, VFW, American Legion, Catholic Life Branch
      and Sacred Heart Church. He was a retired farmer/rancher.

      Survivors: wife, Margaret Janak Bludau; daughters, Anna Rose Arsenion
      of Corpus Christi, Barbara Tankersley and Sharon Bludau, both of
      Hallettsville, and Karen Bigham of Victoria; sons, Douglas Bludau and
      Ronnie L. Bludau, both of Hallettsville, and Howard Bludau of
      Victoria; sisters, Lillian Besetzny of Schulenburg, Marcella Janak of
      Yoakum, Sister Bernarda Bludau and Mary Ann Murphy, both of Dallas,
      and Irene Knebel of Bay City; brothers, Frank Bludau and
      Winfred "Wink" Bludau, both of Hallettsville; 14 grandchildren; and
      one great-grandchild.

      Preceded in death by: parents; sisters, Rosalyn Anita Bludau, Mildred
      Bludau, Delrose Ann Sandelovic and one infant sister; and brothers,
      James Paul Bludau and Erwin Joseph Bludau.

      Visitation will be noon today at Kubena Funeral Home chapel.

      A rosary will be recited 7 p.m. tonight at Sacred Heart Church.

      Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church, the Rev. John Peters
      officiating.

      Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Kubena Funeral Home,
      Hallettsville, 361-798-3271.
