      Alvin John Janik
      1917-2002

      Alvin John Janik of Falls City passed away Sunday, Dec. 22, 2002, at
      the age of 85 years, 2 months, and 7 days.

      He was born in Wilson County on Oct. 15, 1917, to Frank and Anna
      (Kuban) Janik.

      On Nov. 14, 1939, he married Edna Marie Flieller. She preceded him in
      death on Feb. 24, 1965.

      Mr. Janik was a mechanic and a lifelong resident of Wilson County. He
      was a Lutheran by faith.

      Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 26, in the
      Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Poth. Pastor David Collins of St.
      John's Lutheran Church of Poth officiated the services.

      Interment followed in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Poth.

      Pallbearers were David Moczygemba, Brian Moczygemba, John Robert
      Lyssy, John Janik, Shawn Williams, and Ray Lee Urbanczyk.

      In addition to his parents and his wife of 25 years, he was preceded
      in death by his second wife, Anna Belle Martinka; two brothers; four
      sisters; and a son-in-law, Raymond P. Lyssy.
      He is survived by his children Thomas "Tommy" Janik of Corpus
      Christi, Barbara Lyssy of Falls City, Kathleen Moczygemba and husband
      Richard of Falls City, and Alvin "Jerry" Janik of Laughlin, Nev.;
      brother Frankie Janik of Denton; sister Lois Schulze and husband
      Hilmer of Floresville; grandchildren John Janik, Lisa Smith, Dorothy
      Urbanczyk, John Robert Lyssy, Sandra Wiatrek, David Moczygemba, Brian
      Moczygemba, Tricia Williams, Michelle Janik, and Michael Janik; 12
      great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
