HALLETTSVILLE - Pete T. Capak, 87, of Hallettsville, died Tuesday,
Dec. 31, 2002.
He was born Dec. 20, 1915, in Lavaca County, to the late Joseph and
Frances Janacek Capak. He served in the military during WWII and the
Normandy Invasion, receiving the Bronze Star with one oak leaf
cluster, the Purple Heart with two oak leaf clusters, the Good
Conduct Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the Europe/African/Middle
East Campaign Medal with three bronze battle stars and the WWII
Victory Medal. He was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of
Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, KJT and Sacred Heart Church
of Hallettsville. He was a farmer and rancher in the Breslau area.
Survivors: wife, Lorraine Kubecka Capak; daughters, Margaret Herchek
of Yoakum, Virginia Ruschhaupt of Cuero and Claudia Williams of
Hallettsville; sister, Agnes Schoellman of New Braunfels; and three
Preceded in death by: parents; sisters, Mary Appelt and Cecilia
Starustka; and brothers, Steve Capak and Adolph Capak.
Visitation will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Kubena Funeral Home chapel.
A rosary will be recited 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home chapel
and 1:30 p.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Church. Services will be 2 p.m.
Friday at the church, the Msgr. Balty Janacek officiating.
Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Kubena Funeral Home,
Memorials: Hospice of South Texas.
