Raymond A. Kral, age 61, of Wet, passed away Thursday afternoon, November 21, 2002 at his residence.
Funeral services were held 3 p.m. Sunday at West Brethren Church with Rev. Roland Hill of Pasadena, Texas and Rev. Don Ketcham officiating. Burial followed at West Brethren Cemetery. The family received visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Raymond was born April 28, 1941 in Menlow, the son of Albin and Leona (Marek) Kral. He attended schools in Abbott and graduated from Abbott High School in 1960. Raymond played football for the Abbott panthers. He then went on to attend Durham Business School in Waco. Raymond soon began working at West Flour Mill, which later became Jupe Mills, and continued there for 42 years, retiring as the general manager earlier this year. He married Edith Lile Hill on August 22, 1981 in Pasadena. He was a lifelong member of the West Brethren Church, formerly serving on the Board of Elders. He was a member of the SPJST #54, RVOS Lodge, Baylor Bear Foundation and West Booster Club. He enjoyed traveling, watching the Dallas Cowboys, working in his yard and being with family.
He is preceded in death by his father, Albin Kral who passed away in May of 1982 and his brother, Robert Kral who died June 24, 1997.
Survivors include his wife, Edith Kral of West; his mother, Leona Kral of West; a son, Paul William (Billy) Costello and his wife Lorell of Woodway; two daughters, Pamela Sue Montanez and her husband Michael of Lorena and Paula Gail Watson and her husband Sam of Robinson; two brothers, Harry Kral and wife Cindy of Houston, and Bill Kral of West; three sisters, Linda Mills, Debbie Coleman and husband David, and Annette Mach, all of West; a sister-in-law, Mary Beth Kral of Houston; five grandchildren, Crystal and Courtney Montanez and Kalyn, Tyler, and Haley Watson; brothers-in-law, Weldon Hill and wife Bobbie, Rev. Roland Hill and wife Mary Ann, and Raymond Hill and wife Joyce; several nieces and nephews; a great nice and nephew; other relatives; and many lifelong friends.
Active pallbearers were Lester Young, Jerry Charanza, Don Locke, Jerry Janek, Gilbert Marek, Joe Sinkule, Rudy Rizo and Edward Hykel. Honorary pallbearers were Freddie Kaluza, Jackie Willenborg and Ray Tichavsky.
Memorials may be made to the Brethren Church and the West Volunteer Ambulance Association.
Aderhold Funeral Home in West was in charge of arrangements.
