        Hi Illona

I have distant relatives that live in Yukon and Oklahoma City...Novotny and Blecha. My great grandparents, Frank and Marie(Vostry) Novotny are buried in the Blecha Cemetery at 44th and Villa Streets,Oklahoma City,Oklahoma. They had 11 children so the descendants are all over. Just thought I'd mention this in case you know any of them.

Wish I could go to the festival...sounds great!!

HI..There are no Czech Fests in Round Rock that I know of but, I've only lived here for three years. I'm still feeling my way around. I'm a native Nebraskan, although we lived in Brownsville, Texas, for 15 years before coming here.

I understand Pflugerville is growing fast...as is Round Rock. I don't know where all the people are coming from. The amount of new homes being built is amazing.

Millie's right, the closest Czech festivals to RR at this time are those
in Caldwell and West. When I was growing up in soutn Austin, RR and
Pflugerville were both separate dinky little towns. Both areas have
boomed with expansion, population and new housing and developments, and
there are other Czechs here besides myself and Millie. The folks who own
the Old Prague Market in Pflugerville come to mind, but Pflugerville is a
predominantly German settlement and they have their Duetchen (sp?) Fest
each year like Caldwell has the Kolache Festival.

Millie, maybe you and I should start something (Czech) in Round Rock?

                  Billy,

It would help if you knew his exact death date. The University of
Texas at Austin has some microfilmed copies of the Caldwell News.
They have some for the 1920s but not all of them. You may or may not
be able to find one unless you go to Caldwell.

                              Billy,

In the book Caldwell Newspapers Burleson County, Texas 1897 - 1929 Birth and Death Notices, Compiled by Linda Houck, I find a notice, as follows:

                              "December 23 1921
Remains of Mrs. Frances Martin, age 33 who died at Rusk arrived here Saturday and were taken to New Tabor for interment.  She was daughter of Tom Mackek living three miles east of town.  She had been ill for some time."

On this same page there is also the note that, "There are no issues available for the years 1922 through 1927."

In the book Cemeteries of Burleson County, Texas, compiled by the Burleson County Historical Commission, I find on page 195:

                              Tomas Macek  1856 - Jan 7, 1925.

Provided this is the individual you are looking for, with an accurate date of death you might find an obituary in one of the Czech newspapers published at this time.

                              Good luck!
