      After a life, rich in blessings, Al Pargac was called by his Master on April 3, 2002. Born June 19, 1915 to the late Adolph and Louisa Pargac, he was a life-time resident of Victoria County. Al was a devoted and loving husband to his wife, Lu, for 63 years. He was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. His family celebrates his life. Al is a graduate of St. Joseph's High School and alumni of St. Mary's University in San Antonio (B.A., 1937). Al was a member of a pioneer cotton ginning family and operated the Placedo Gin 1951-1972. He is retired from Southern Pacific Railroad (1943-1979). Al loved the outdoors and enjoyed his ranching interests in Colorado County. He was affiliated with Council 1329 Knights of Columbus and Transportation Union. Al was a member of Our Lady of Victory Cathedral. Al is preceded in death by an infant brother and sister; sister Lillie Gripp; brothers, Ed and Herman Pargac. He is survived by wife Lu Pargac; daughter and son-in-law Gail and Bill Rains; grandson, Charles Pollard and wife Amy; granddaughter, Lisa Putman and husband Stan, Jr.; great grandchildren Caitlynn Pollard and Ben Putman; Sisters Madlyn Pargac, Margaret Adams and Louise Shiller; many nieces, nephews and dear friends. The family extends sincere gratitude to the many physicians, nurses and others who cared for this dear man. Donations, in lieu of flowers, are preferred by the family to the American Cancer Society or Our Lady of Victory Catholic Cathedral. A rosary will be recited on Friday, April 5, 2002 at 7:00 P.M. at Colonial Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, April 6, 2002 at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Victory Cathedral with Msgr. Michael Harrold officiating. Burial will follow at Catholic Cemetery #2.Pallbearers will be: Gerald Pargac, Don Buethe, Charles Dentler, Mike Adams, Eddie Gripp and David Shiller.Honorary Pallbearers: Clarice Hall, Jake and Evie Schlein, Billy and Estelle Beyer, and Norman Hooper.
