      Burial Rites Held in Poth for Mrs. Alma Mathilda Frieda

      Funeral services for Mrs. Alma Mathilda Frieda were held Friday, December
      11, 1964 at 9:45 a.m. at Vinyard Funeral Chapel in Floresville. Mass
      followed in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville with Msgr. John
      Gerbermann celebrating Requiem Mass. Internment was in Blessed Sacrament
      Cemetery in Poth.
      Pallbearers were Edward and Arnold Frieda of San Antonio, Rodger Frieda of
      Oklahoma, Victor Merecka, Donald Merecka and Henry Baumann, all of
      Floresville.
      Although in failing health for about eight years, Mrs. Frieda was still
      very active around the house until 11 days before her death. She passed
      away at 10:45 a. m. Wednesday, December 9th in Memorial Hospital at the ago
      of 70 years eight months and 24 days.
      A daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Berkanhoff, she was born March
      15, 1894 in Praha, Lavaca County, Texas. In the year 1920 she was married
      to the late Fred Frieda who preceded her in death, two brothers and one
      sister also preceded her to the grave.
      The family moved to the Three Oaks community in 1922. In 1946 Mrs. Frieda
      moved to Floresville where she made her home with her daughter and
      son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Baumann. While her health permitted, Mrs.
      Frieda worked at various jobs here in town. She was a member of the Sacred
      Heart Catholic Church and Council of Catholic Women.
      A rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Vinyard Funeral Home.
      Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Albert Baumann (Ernestine) of Floresville,
      step-daughter, Mrs. Robert Stallings (Aurallia) of San Antonio, step-son
      Arnold H. Frieda of San Antonio, daughter-in-law Mrs. Herbert Frieda of San
      Antonio, sister, Mrs. Frank Derrich of El Campo, brother, Henry Berkanhoff
      of Yorktown and Rudolph Berkanhoff of Schulenburg, five grandchildren and
      two step-grandchildren.
